Construction begins on 22 new campsites at Red River State Recreation Area

Camping opportunities are expanding at Red River State Recreation Area (SRA) this summer, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Construction has begun on 22 new full-service campsites and the agency anticipates that the sites will be finished in early August.

All 73 existing campsites at Red River SRA will remain open during construction, as will other facilities at the park. No construction activity will occur during the weekends unless necessary. During the week, construction will begin at
6 a.m. daily and continue until dusk.

Upon entering Red River SRA, visitors are asked to drive slowly to avoid trucks and other equipment. Some areas of the park will be temporarily off-limits to visitors.

For more information, call the park office at 218-773-4950.
